Dollar Tree Craft- Under Five Bucks For Cute Decor

I love Dollar Tree as you all know so as I was perusing the aisles with Ellie the other day, I found the cutest little frames:

And I began to brainstorm.
What can I make you into?

Take some scrapbook paper.

**This step is for all us unlucky souls who don’t have a Silhouette machine at home.**

I just typed up some four-letter words (the good kind) on my printer in some cool fonts.

Cut the paper to fit each frame.

Cut out each letter.

Glued each letter to the cutout scrapbook paper.

The four represent the four of us in our little family but the beauty of this little project is that I can change out the paper and letters to fit each season for less than a dollar!

Here it is on my “summer mantel”.

Cost of this project:

1) frames- 1.00 each x 4= 4.00
2) scrapbook paper- .45 cents on sale at Michael’s
3) letters- free!

Total cost- $ 4.45 for a whimsical little craft!

  7. Thanks Leanne! The mantel is slooowwwly coming together but I love how a blog can inspire me to get something done around here!

  8. Love the mini frame idea. This is a similar project I did back in the day…; 4 mini frames, background paper, fancy font printout and cut out of a person's initials, and one printout of an icon, like a favorite flower, pet, mini family portrait, etc. Place small grouping at your work desk, at work or at home, dorm room, it's small, unobtrusive, personal and decorative! I love the framed cross idea! You can also use the cross as a tracing guide on printed papers, trace outline of cross on the white side of printed paper, cut out the crosses and glue them onto color coordinated background paper. You can glue and stack crosses together to make the crosses thicker, for that dimensional look, also glue cut out on the cross instead of painting! Possibilities are endless! I see your ideas and my mind tumbles like a domino effect as where it can run with that idea! Thanks for all the inspirations! 😀
