Workin’ With What Ya Got- Homemade Febreeze

I love Pinterest

When I was muddling through No Spend August, I came across this great idea on Pinterest thanks to the blog Homemade Mamas.

Homemade Febreeze.

If you love this stuff like I do, you also know that Febreeze is not cheap.

Like five dollars a bottle.

I know you are mentally eye rolling right now but five dollars is a lot to spend for something to make your couch and curtains smell good for like, what. 10 minutes?

The past year or so we have been buying our “febreeze” from Dollar Tree and although I love me some Dollar Tree, their “febreeze” leaves a lot to be desired.

So when I ran across this recipe, I squealed:

 fabric softener? check!

baking soda? check!

hot water? check!

Sounds like it falls under my no spend criteria!

Here is the official recipe:

Homemade Febreeze

2 cups warm water
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 cup liquid fabric softener (any scent you choose)
Mix together and put in a spray bottle.

It will look like this when you are done.

  1. The great thing about this recipe is that once you spray it on, it is dry to the touch within minutes. With febreeze, surfaces are wet for a lot longer….:)
