Happy Monday! We went to my parent’s for the weekend since the kids were out of school on Monday!
It was a nice getaway but would have been much nicer had Anna not gotten really, really sick while there.
She was eventually diagnosed with a double ear infection and has been on an antibiotic since yesterday morning but she is still running a fever and is still in pain so back to the doctor we go.
** Update- she has strep. But she is on the mend! **
I bought this lamp at Goodwill last summer for six dollars, shade and all:
It’s a great lamp but it had a dent in the shade.
I have been looking at this lamp for over seven months now and there was nothing wrong with it but it was just blah.
So I was brainstorming one cold Saturday and began thinking about how I could transform this lamp with items I already had laying around.
So here is what I did:
First I dusted off the shade.
Then…
I glued some grosgrain ribbon I found onto the bottom of the shade.
After that, I started writing on the shade in sharpie.
I wrote down all my favorite inspirational quotes.
I didn’t measure out anything because I wanted it to look like a cool shade I had seen on Pinterest.
After writing all of that, I spray painted the lamp base yellow.
Summer squash by Rust-Oleum to be exact.
Good morning sunshine!
Excuse the paper towel under the lamp. It was still a little sticky and I couldn’t wait to take the picture.
Then I decided to move the lamp to the living room with my new handmade curtains:
The total cost for me?
Zero dollars!
And all it took was a sharpie marker and some spray paint.
I bet you have both in YOUR home right now.
Oh and speaking of how spray paint can transform anything, here is another lamp rehaul that I completed on the same day:
I went from black to white.
I already had the paint in the garage.
Just a free change up and let me tell you, it does make a difference even in the lighting it gives off.
I am trying to get away from so many dark colors in my home especially during the winter months when you don’t get as much light in the house as the rest of the year.
this looks great I hope you'll stop by and add this and any other posts you're proud of to my Wednesday What We Wore and Made Link partymarissahttp://raegunwear.blogspot.com
