This recipe will not help you in sticking with your new year resolution to lose weight.
It will, however, help make you popular.
And have less bad hair days.
And make even a sucky day, less, well…sucky.
This recipe has been in my life for so many years, I never remember a time without it.
My mom made this for us growing up and it is still a comfort food item I ask beg her to make when we come to visit.
It will change how you look at hot fudge sundaes forever.
Revolutionize it, if you will.
Double or triple this recipe though.
Because as is it only makes enough for two people, really.
And it will leave you licking the bowl.
I speak the truth.
This will make you forget all your problems.
Piles of bills?
Step in a mud puddle?
Take a deep breath and enjoy every bite of this amazing hot fudge.
Mom’s Hot Fudge Sauce
– 3/4 c. sugar
– 3 Tbsp. cocoa
– a dash of salt
– 2 Tbsp. water
– 2/3 C. evaporated milk
Combine the above and cook until thick.
This doesn’t take long, around 5-10 minutes.
Then remove from heat and add:
– 2 Tbsp. butter (or margarine)
– 1 tsp. vanilla
I let this sit on the stove for about 20 minutes then I spoon over ice cream.
If you put it on the ice cream right away, it will make the ice cream soupy.
Now, if you like soupy ice cream add it right away.
