Okay, maybe since Christmas.
Alright, November.
I think this just might be the longest I have gone without creating anything, well, creative.
I have tried to pinpoint why and I really can’t come up with anything.
Well, yes.
I think for once I am truly happy with how our home looks.
I go to Goodwill and see nothing I like but when I am in a store and see something I actually turn it down because I have no room for it or wouldn’t know where to put it.
Which means I am okay with what I have.
This is a great feeling!
I still rearrange furniture but I haven’t bought really anything major for the house in a while.
I did get some cute stuff at Kohl’s a few weeks ago that I want to share with you.
But other than that, I have bought nothing new for my home since fall.
BIG projects loom but they all cost big moolah so not sure when they will happen.
We want to replace the floors in the bedrooms upstairs.
And the exterior trim of our home will need to be painted this summer.
Unfortunately, that will come first which stinks because I don’t sit outside and stare at my house all day.
Although it would be fun to do to freak out our neighbors….hmm.
Being a homeowner suuuucks.
Being an adult suuuuucks.
See if we rented, we could use all this money and buy lots of fun stuff at IKEA!
Or go on a Caribbean vacation!
Or buy name brand food!!!
See the cute little mercury glass owl I found?
Kohls.
For three bucks.
Isn’t he cute?
And he makes me smile.
I almost got one for my friend Rebecca but I’ve gotten her three owl things over the past year.
And she said she doesn’t want to become one of those people who have like a million owls in her house.
Like a cat lady.
Only with owls.
Not that there is anything wrong with that.
I kind of have a thing for mercury glass.
I really don’t care if it is a trend, I will love this forever.
This vase cost five bucks at Kohls too.
I got this two weeks after the owl.
I guess they had this with all their Christmas items but I think mercury glass can be used year-round.
I especially love it for spring.
The plant I have had for five years, I got it at Wal-Mart.
It is actually sitting on a ramekin inside the vase to give it some height.
So my latest “project” really isn’t a “project” at all.
Everything I had lying around my house.
Actually, the items were on my craft shelf in the basement.
She didn’t really dig it so I took to the basement in hopes of finding a place for it.
I love this so much.
Cost?
Nothing.
Well, six dollars if we are being technical but I did nothing but go to my basement and pull these together.
So that’s it!
I know, a little anticlimactic.
I just gotta find Stella.
So she can tell me where to find my groove again.
How i love this! I am in such a funk with uh…life in general. Mainly the house though. Love the inspiration and ideas to use what you have- i have crates in the basement. Random crap that i could switch out things/create with! For some reason this time of year is always hard because it's not Winter (to me), but it's not quite Spring, and i also can't brak out my Summer seashells and "This Way To The Beach" sign. Awesome post:) I feel inspired except for the coughing i'm hearing down the hall.

Oh how I wish I could say I haven't spent a to of moola on the house lately. Seems that's all I've been doing. Okay, deeply discounted moola. But moola nonetheless!I love your free-for-six-bucks artwork! Super creative. I wouldn't be surprised if your daughter pulls it off the wall and puts it in her bedroom now!!!:) Linda

You are exactly the kind of designer that I can afford to hire Kari 😉 I LOVE the owls! The winter funk is killing me too! I need longer days and open windows to reignite a little inspiration…and sooner rather than later! Loved this!

I adore the new owl! And that it was only $3! We're currently on a spending diet as we try to pay off some credit cards so I've been working with what I already have too. I would have never thought to create something so simply lovely with a frame. Great job!

We are totally owl twinsies — I have a very similar little silver owl (from Target) that lives by my TV. And I LOVE that yellow frame with the clippy hang area, my first thought was that I could hang a little newborn sock that Jack grew out of. But then I might want to make more babies and um, NO.
