I knew nothing about blogging when I initially started in 2010.
I literally Googled, “how to create a blog”, chose the first result, and followed the instructions.
That was it.
A blog, by definition, is:
1- a personal website or web page on which an individual records opinions, links to other sites, etc. on a regular basis.
Yes, blogs were designed to be personal diaries, journals, entries.
Similar to an online diary.
What matters most is how it looks to you.
If you love it, others will enjoy it as well.
There is still a lot I don’t know, but that is what I enjoy most about blogging.
There is always something new to discover.
I have compiled a list of my favorite blogging advice from wonderful bloggers all over the internet. Because I want to see a world in which there are more bloggers than there are non-bloggers.
And these tutorials can assist you in starting your blog.
How to Get Started
Let me begin by mentioning that when I Googled “how to start a blog” many years ago, there were far fewer individuals blogging.
When I Google it now, I get a bunch of HOW TO MAKE MONEY BLOGGING/ WHICH DOMAIN YOU NEED TO BUY/BLAH BLAH BLAH.
*Side note- I am currently using the WordPress platform, but this does not affect my assesment of Blogger. Blogger is an excellent platform for getting started with blogging.
Here is my own take: I prefer Blogger.
I hear a collective sigh from all the apocalyptic bloggers out there.
Because on Blogger, you do not “own” your content, Blogger does (which is owned by Google).
Now, I don’t see Google disappearing any time soon, and if you have backed your blog (tutorial will be included in this post), there is no need for concern.
But yes, WordPress works well too.
For me, the most difficult step was coming up with a blog name.
In fact, before you even Google “how to build a blog”, come up with a name for your blog.
My blog was going to be called Ducks in a Row at first.
However, when I Googled Ducks In A Row, I discovered two blogs and four small businesses with that name.
That’s a whole lotta ducks.
So you’ve started a blog!
All that remains is to add the words.
But if you want to make your blog more visually appealing, check out the tutorials below.
I learned so much from this blogger, and I have her to thank for getting my blog to where I finally love it.
