My friend Lizzy is a fellow blogger who writes over at Minnesota Night.
I have been “blog friends” with Lizzy, I believe, since the beginning of my blogging start, so five years now….. maybe a little less.
I have loved reading her blog, when she started she was a young married teacher and now she has two beautiful children.
I feel like I have been on her life journey alongside her and yet we live eight-plus hours away from each other.
That is the cool thing about blogging.
Meet my friend Lizzy today!
What one thing annoys you the least about Oprah?
Is it horrible to say that Oprah doesn’t annoy me at all?! What an amazing woman, truly. She has worked her tush off to get where she is today.
This is why I love this question. Because I have received such a range of answers.
And I totally agree with you because she is one of the hardest working women out there and a role model to women everywhere.
AND has great hair.
Who is your favorite family member? Why?
Ooh, favorite family member! I would have to say my mom (no brainer!). My mom has always been there for me, always. She is exactly what I want to be to both my son and daughter. While growing up she was always very kind, understand and firm. We knew when she meant business. Now that I am an adult, she is one of my best friends. Truth be told, I contemplated asking my mom to be a bridesmaid in my wedding. She declined, in case you were wondering because she didn’t want to leave my dad to sit in the audience alone.
Mom’s hold such a place in our hearts and I love that you wanted her as a bridesmaid.
What is your favorite blog and why? (not mine)
Dig This Chick. There are a handful of blogs I make sure to check every day (yours is one of them but you don’t have to publish that if you don’t want)… I totally want…Nici writes from the soul and lets her audience into her life. She is so open, real and honest.
I am completely adoring these blogs my family and friends are sharing.
I need to go back and add all of them to my Bloglovin feed after the holidays.
Except for YouTube because still not a blog.
What holiday food item would you take a bath in if no one was looking?
I feel like I should say eggnog because it’s liquid. But I don’t really like eggnog. So I’ll have to say….ugh. I don’t know. I love a good spritz cookie. Or a gingersnap. Or sugar cookies. I like cookies, okay?!?!
No judgment zone, remember?
Plus cookies are always a good bath item.
And I love eggnog.
Give it another try, for me.
What one present do you hope to receive this year?
I’ll be super materialistic. I’d like a new camera. I purchased my DSLR camera years, and years ago. It was a $600 camera, and that was when they were all SUUUPER expensive. Whatever, they’re still expensive in my book. I’d really like to get a new DSLR and some photography classes. Not to be super pessimistic, but I know I won’t get it. Probably because I haven’t told anyone I want it!
I love my DSLR so much because it takes such amazing pictures of my girls and for that reason alone, I am so glad I have one.
But I have had mine for going on three years now and I still don’t have a camera bag for it!
I also want to take photography classes too.
As for getting this for Christmas, send the link to this blog post to your husband as a hint.
If you only had the money to make one holiday dish this season, which one?
My family isn’t big on traditional holiday foods- I don’t even know what a traditional holiday dish would be. But I do love me some roasted Brussel sprouts and bacon.
I have never felt the urge to try a Brussel sprout in my life.
But if bacon is part of the recipe I might be inclined to try.
Go here for the recipe.
What one celebrity is your absolute favorite?
Hmm. Good question. And I don’t know if I have an answer. Oprah? Just kidding. She isn’t. I’m in love with Jason Isbell’s music right now. Does that count?
Umm if he has albums and concerts, he is a definite celebrity.
And now I need to listen to him because upon research he was in the band Drive-By-Truckers and that is just all kinds of awesome.
If you could have your own television show, what would YOU give your guests as your big giveaway?
I’d pay off their student loan debt. Because my TV show would be so successful that I’d have the money to do that. Student loan debt is a serious business and it’s stressful. I think I could make a lot of people happy if I relieved their debt load.
I think we could make a lot of people happy if it didn’t cost an arm and a leg to go to college.
But then I would need more than a talk show to change that……
What one thing (besides any religious belief) is your favorite part of the holiday season?
Family. We make a point to hang out with family a lot over the holidays- and not just on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. My husband and I are teachers, so we get a nice chunk of time off for work. It has been so fun to continue our childhood traditions, and also start them with our own kiddos.
I love that you spend your vacation with your family.
I miss my extended family but our little family spends the entire two weeks together and I adore this time.
If you could say one word to describe my blog, what would it be?
Frickin’ awesome. Whoops, that’s two. I love your blog. It’s so real and I can always hear your voice ( even though I’ve never heard your voice in real life before). I got up the nerve to email you long. long ago to ask some questions about building a blog and honestly, I was surprised I got a response…..big time blogger, responding to a no-name blogger? How awesome is that?! You rock, girl!
First, no whoops! The more words the better!
Second, I completely forgot about this email because we have been friends for such a long time, it just felt like we have always known each other.
Third, I am no big name blogger and you are not a no-name blogger.
Fourth, I adore you.
Thank you, Lizzy, for being you.
I can’t wait to see where the next five years plus of our blogging and friendship takes us!
