I used to write one of these posts almost every year during the holidays but then it seemed like I was selling you crap you didn’t want or need. To be clear, the things I am listing in this post will have links to Amazon where you can indeed purchase them and within that link, I will get a small portion of the money. But that was not my motivation for writing the post.
My inspiration came from Melissa at 320 Sycamore, a blog I have loved since I started blogging. Honestly, she is the reason I wrote all of my favorite things posts, to begin with. It’s her fault, so don’t get mad at me. 🙂
CO Bigelow Mentha Lip Shine
I first shared this with all of you in my 2012 Favorite Things list and recently bought one and am in love all over again. They are originally from Bath and Body Works but Amazon carries a three-pack that I love for Christmas gifting. I personally love the lip tint versions because you get a little bit of color. Oh and these freshen your breath too, so do not tell me that I don’t have your back.

One Line a Day Journal
I recommended this diary in my 2010 Favorite Things List and it is still something I use daily. In fact, I just bought another one because my current five-year journal is almost finished. I have two of these bad boys sitting in my nightstand which means I have been writing in these for 10 years! I love that so much. If you aren’t a big diary person but would love to look back and see anecdotes from your life, this is for you.

“Leather” Pillow Covers

Or just pillow covers in general. I discovered a secret this year: you don’t have to buy new decorative pillows for every season. Just buy pillow covers instead. They are way cheaper than buying the whole pillow and Amazon has such a huge selection (better and cheaper than even IKEA!!).
Here are a few styles I love in addition to the leather pillow covers above:

We have these green covers in our family room!

That pack of four pillow covers is only $16!
Day Planner

A few months ago I had someone ask me how I stay so organized. Believe it or not, that planner up there is exactly how. I am slowly losing my mind (it’s okay, I am getting older) and forget things even after I write them down. But this guy helps me keep my mind somewhat intact. I have tried countless phone apps, online “organizing” tools and nothing works like a good old pen, paper, and calendar. I shared this planner with you during my birthday month because honestly, it is my most favorite thing to keep my life as simple as possible.
Foot Creme

I used to have what I affectionally called dinosaur feet, which is such an insult to dinosaurs. My feet were so horrible that the ladies at the nail salon I go to used to make fun of them RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME in Korean.
yeogi gonglyong bal-i onda!!!
(Here comes Dinosaur feet!)
I used to take offense to this but then I actually took a long hard look at my feet and realized that they were right.
So instead of wallowing in self-pity, I decided to stop going to the salon altogether until I could get my foot situation shitshow together.
I researched online and found that Eucerin Advanced Repair Foot Creme was one of the best out there. I have been using it since July and my feet are smoother than I have ever had. AND it is only $12 for a two-pack on Amazon…..much cheaper than a power sander.
Cute Earrings

I have gotten more compliments on these earrings than I have ever gotten on, well, anything? I even had a guy compliment them and no, he wasn’t hitting on me and yes, I know him and no, he wasn’t my husband or my dad.
The point is that these earrings are a find AND they are less than $9 bucks for FOUR PAIRS.
Sage, Mannnnn

I mentioned sage-ing a home back in February when I wrote about Tori Spelling.
Long story, read the post.
Well, I bought me some sage back in September and have been sage-ing my home weekly ever since.
Do I think it might make a difference?
Maybe.
It clears the negative energy away from your home and it just makes you feel lighter. Might it be the fumes?
Probably.
Also, it smells like you just smoked a joint after, so don’t sage your home before your pastor comes over.
Also, you need to open the windows to let the bad energy out, so maybe don’t do it on the coldest day of the week.
Also, be careful not to burn your house down because you are waving around your sage stick.
That would be really bad to burn your house down while sage-ing it to get rid of negative energy.
Buffalo Check Table Cloth

I am IN LOVE with this tablecloth because it can be used for many seasons. Actually, every single season. It would look just as adorable in the summer with a jar full of sunflowers on the table as it would at Thanksgiving and Christmas. Stuff like this is why I love Amazon because I got this tablecloth for $12.99 then saw a cheaper looking version of this same tablecloth at Wal-Mart for 20 bucks.
What are some of your favorite things from Amazon? Also, have you ever saged your house before and did you feel like a hippie doing it?

Hello Kari! I found your blog through a comment on Grammy Dee’s blog. As for your favorites, I already use the foot cream and love it. I am three years into a five-year line-a-day journal, and find it’s a great day to keep a history of small joys and sorrows when I don’t feel like writing a full journal entry. It’s also fun to be able to look at what you were doing or feeling exactly one year ago, two years, etc. One thing new I see on this list that I must try is the lip shine. Thanks!

I have not saged my house. Are you saying that smelly sweat socks and bad teen basketball inspired BO are bad odors? Hmm.
I love Amazon. I guess my favorite Amazon thing is my gluten free oatmeal. Cannot start a day without it, but that is so boring. I just love being able to order ANYTHING and most likely have it arrive the next day. How did we survive before Amazon?
Love the dinosaur feet thing! I have webbed toes, so you know those nail saloon peeps have lots to say about me behind my back!

Sage doesn’t get rid of the odors, it gets rid of the energy! It also makes your home smell like an opium den, I KID.
Thank the heavens for Amazon. And prime. And sage.

Look at me – one of the first to comment today! Sadly it is because I am on the couch today. Out of commission, but I can still type (full story on my blog today, because what else am I going to do?) The house is falling apart around me as in laundry piles and dirty dishes, so nothing structural – but still THIS SUCKS!!! (Other than being able to read and comment on blogs and write!)

Oh friend, I’m sorry.
Thank God for blogging. It’s saved my sanity since 2010. 😂

That was fun seeing your favorite things! I’m in love with Burt’s Bee’s lip balm – the tinted ones. They’re only like $4 each and I have one everywhere…purse, car, nightstand, bathroom.
I do the paper/notebook planner thing, too! I do much better with that than using my phone.

Yep, that would be bad to burn down your house while you are sageing it! LOL. I love that foot cream. I used to use it a few hours before bed and cover my feet with cotton socks.

Realized I never mentioned the planner and I too am a pen and paper girl. I looked at your fav planner and Amazon gave me the option ‘NEW’ which made me wonder, do people buy used planners? I am addicted to my notebook as a planner. I write my stuff to do on one side and my groceries on the other. Don’t think I could be restricted to specific days, because what I don’t accomplish one day rolls into the next. Nothing like aiming high!

That’s funny bc I bought some used workbooks for homeschooling this year and they have some of the sections filled out already which makes no sense. That’s how I feel a used planner would be…..”oh, I didn’t know I had a root canal on the 10th. Oh wait, that’s not me….” 🙄

I have the one line a day journal. I bought it two years ago to start on Jan 1. I have written in it a dozen times in 2018 and probably half that in 2019. 2020 is gonna be the year.

Eucerin is the shizz. Our first Christmas in Vermont, within two days our skin was so cracked and dry from baseboard heat that was the only thing that saved us.
I have one of those baby feet Korean masks that turns your feet into a horror show for two weeks before supposedly revealing the feet of a newborn after. I’m terrified to use it but the prospect of my feet not being able to sand wood is more appealing.

My mom got me Baby Feet one year for Easter and it didn’t seem to work for me? Most likely user error. But they have them at Target now! Also, I have missed your comments! 🙂

One thing I saw on those is you *have* to soak your feet every night for 10 minutes in warm/hot water because that is supposed to aid the peeling process over 10-14 days. I saw Target has jumped on the sheet mask thing hardcore. There was a whole huge table of them in our new one. Aww, thanks- you’re too sweet! It’s been a poopie year that’s for sure. I’ve got new recipes starting next week finally! 😀
