Screw It, I’m Eating Tater Tots- Episode 36

If you’re new to my blog, welcome! Here is an explanation of the tater tot post.

I’m not sure who to give credit to because it wasn’t given credit on TikTok.

Last week, I came across this image on TikTok. It’s a behind-the-scenes photo of from the film The Breakfast Club. That’s John Hughes on the far left.

Liquid death

I discovered this at the grocery store last month:

Excuse my filthy car

It’s just a fancy water, and while I’m not usually impressed by fancy water, I was on an artist’s date with myself (damn you, Julia Cameron!), and it seemed appropriate.

Anyway, I noticed Liquid Death at the register and decided to buy it on the spur of the moment. Julia Cameron would want me to experience Liquid Death!

I had an epiphany while listening to Billy Idol, eating Whole Foods gummy stars (10 out of 10, highly recommend), and sipping my Liquid Death can of water: this can of water looks like a can of beer.

I look like I’m sipping a can of beer while driving.

At three o’clock in the afternoon.

On a Monday.

It felt liberating.

Go, get yourself some Schlitz, I mean Liquid Death.

That’s bananas

Last week, I made caramelized bananas to put on my oatmeal, and it was the ideal way to give February middle finger. See you next year, a-hole.

Stickers

I indicated in January that I wanted to rediscover my childhood sticker obsession. However, I’ve had difficulty finding stickers at local retailers.

Then, while perusing through social media, OKAY IT WAS TIKTOK AGAIN, I came upon a small business that makes magical stickers.

I think I spent almost $30 on stickers.

If you’re reading this, Mike, please keep scrolling. Nothing to see here.

Go to Jem and Cozy’s Etsy shop and buy all the stickers.

What I’m listening to

This month I learned about brown noise. Have you ever heard of it? White noise has always been too loud for me, which is why I’ve used a fan instead. But brown noise is so much better for me.

Give it a listen.

What I’m watching

Better Things is by far the best show I’ve ever seen. The final season premiers today, and if you haven’t already, begin with season one. Rita, thank you for introducing me to this show. My oldest daughter and I binge-watched it at the start of the pandemic, and it saved our lives:

  1. Those are amazing stickers and those bananas look super yummy. I clicked on the 10 Things Most Americans Don’t Know and totally disagree with #2. My extended family is well-traveled, my son has worked in Europe and my DIL is from China. Plenty of people in other countries are obsessed with America. It’s actually quite weird!

    1. No, it tastes just like water.
The Kanye documentary is really good, and we didn’t like Kanye either. It completely changed our perception of him.
I’m not a huge Mark Manson fan, and I’m not typically a fan of these types of articles, but someone sent it to me a few months ago, and thought it was worth sharing.

  2. Does the Real Housewives book focus on one group of women? Or does it cover many of the cities? I have a friend who was on the pilot for Orange County and her husband said he’d divorce her if she continued. She’s so grateful today for that strong stand!

  3. I saw Liquid Death in Woodmans and at first thought it was some kind of new beer or an energy drink. I picked up a can to look at it and saw it was just water. To think that someone is getting rich selling canned water because of a cool label…marketing in American right?

I love stickers. Have several in my desk drawer for when I get a new laptop. My current (old) laptop is already covered. Are those stickers in the Etsy shop ones good for laptop covers, do you know?

I don’t like white or brown noise. Both make me agitated. I do love the “noise” of a fan though and sleep with one on year-round. So used to that kind of noise that I can’t sleep in silence!

Will put Better Things on my watch list. I just watched the trailer and it looks good.

Daylight Savings Time and spring…I am counting the days!

    1. Yes! Good for them.

I’m not sure if they are or not? I didn’t put any on my laptop, but the owners are really responsive, so I’m sure they would get back to you if you asked.

I’m already feeling lighter just knowing that spring is around the corner. 🙂

  4. I’m listening to the housewives book – so good! Also thanks for the link on tv shows to watch if you liked Schitt’s Creek…a lot of them I’ve already watched and liked so I trust the rest will be good as well 🙂

  5. STICKERS!!! Did you have a sticker album when you were a kid? I loved those scratch and sniff stickers. I wonder whatever happened to that album. Do I still have it? Probably not. I remember the pizza sticker smelling disgusting, but grape jelly – which I actually do not like – smelling amazing.

  6. So much here . . . I laughed out loud at ‘KEEP SCROLLING MIKE.’ Hee hee. Also, Shlitz beer – ba ha ha. I might not know a month had ended if it weren’t for these Tater Tot posts. Happy to know spring is on its way. Praise the lord.

I could get sucked into shopping for stickers at Redbubble. So fun. I overbought Irish dancing stickers though, and Curly is retired.

Some of these shows on the link of shows like Schitt’s Creek look so funny. Now that basketball season is over, maybe we should start watching a show. Maybe that’s what life is missing? Of course, travel b-ball is about to ramp up, so maybe there won’t be time for a show after all.

I like the IDEA of caramelized bananas, but I don’t like bananas. I know, weird. My grandma made me eat one when I was a kid and it ruined it for me.

That little cheer leading boy is a dynamo. At one of Reg’s games a few weeks ago, the other team had a male cheerleader who was a special ed student, OH MY GOSH, his dance moves and his energy were impressive and contagious. The high school kids were super supportive of him and he rocked the place. I had a hard time watching Reg as I didn’t want to miss what the kid was going to do next. He was feeling it!

    1. PRAISE THE LORD.

Redbubble is a great place for stickers! Maybe you should get yourself some Irish dancing stickers? 😉

I’m sure you could caramelize a variety of different things. I’d caramelize celery if I could find a decent enough recipe.

      I love that.

  7. As I was reading your post, it occurred to me, wouldn’t the world be a better place if it had gummy-worm-stickers in it? Who would have known that the world IS a better place. I found several companies right away that are already selling them 🙂

On a different note, as I was looking through the links that you posted, the one on things that Americans don’t know reminded me of the Jay Walking segment on the old Jay Leno Tonight show. Turns out there are quite a few of those segments on youtube. I laughed a little. And then cried a little 😀

    1. GUMMY WORM STICKERS. You are my new best friend.

I love those kinds of segments. When my oldest daughter and I were walking along the walk of fame in California in 2018, I remember thinking, DO NOT STOP FOR ANY MICROPHONES. 😉

  8. Sometimes I’ll have carbonated water while driving and I realize it looks like beer. They all look like beer now!
I love the idea of doing caramelized bananas; they look delicious.
I really like the stickers and I’m a fan of stickers since stickers were invented. Going to look at the etsy page after I’m done here.
I’ve been watching Better Things since it came out and have been waiting for a new season. It’s such a good show.
How did you like the Kanye documentary?
I like the brown noise, it sounds like a fan and I’m a fan of fans.

    1. Can you imagine the police looking at people in their cars, wondering if they’re drinking beer or water? DAMN YOU CAPITALISM!!

We really like the Kanye documentary because it shows how hard he worked to get where he is and how talented he is. I think a lot of who he is as an artist got lost in the Kardashians, which is unfortunate. I definitely recommend it.

I like fans, brown noise, ocean waves, you name it. 🙂

  9. So I began reading this one and then got lost in your other blog on artist dates. Why have I never thought or heard of such a thing before?! It’s so simple and brilliant and honestly it sound extremely fun. When my husband is home I’m too busy to take time for myself (he’s a life flight helicopter and airplane mechanic who’s gone every other two weeks). We cram in as much time together when he’s home as possible and catch up on all the farm chores that haven’t been tackled. I digress, when he’s gone I usually have more free time on my hands and I think an artist date is exactly what the doctor ordered. Plus it will give me something exciting to look forward to. I think a trip to hobby lobby is in order 😅. As a side note when I came back to this blog to finish reading it, I couldn’t stop laughing over the visual of you drinking “beer” water in your car. I’m pretty sure I snorted (WOOPS!) so thanks for that 😅.

    1. You definitely need an Artist Date! Since I’ve just discovered your blog and see you’re a writer, I’d like to recommend the book The Artist’s Way. As corny as it may seem, it changed my life. You don’t even have to complete the Artist’s Dates, but the journaling and discovering yourself in the writing? It will transform you.

I got some strange stares as I drove down the street with my beer water. 🙂

      1. I really appreciate the book advice! I don’t know if I would consider myself being called a writer yet 😆 I haven’t exactly published anything and I’m still learning about how to do things properly with grammar… I make a TONNNN of mistakes 😬😬😬 but I’m trying and I love doing it with all my heart. I’m definitely going to look that book up and download it to my kindle or audible asap. Thanks so much for the encouragement, it really means a lot!!

  10. Check out SHEIN and Stickii Club for stickers, they are my sources and I love them. SHEIN is super cheap and Stickii has a subscription service that sends random stickers each month.
