100 More Things I Love

I published a post titled 100 Things I Love in 2017 and it was a lot of fun to write. A lot has happened in in the five years since I published that post, the most significant of which was a global pandemic. But I’ve changed a lot since 2017, going through menopause, writing a book, and doing soul homework for two years. I thought it would be interesting to see what 100 additional things I might discover to enjoy in my life, and how different that list may appear now.

Here are 100 more things that I love.

  1. Kari, I just love your list. It paints a portrait of a person who is calm and peaceful. Not perfect, not perpetually happy, not chasing perpetual happiness. But at peace. There are so many things on it that are favorites of mine, too. Too many to count. Isn’t it nice to be at this stage of life, when such simple things can bring us such deep joy? I love afternoon sunlight in my living room. A fizzy drink on our front porch at the end of the work day, with neighbor kids shooting baskets in the street two doors down. Chopping vegetables while listening to songs from the 70s that make me happy-sad. Really warm socks. Soft flannel sheets (not hard, pilly ones). Hot chocolate in a coffee shop with Cane sitting at the table across from me. I could go on and on…

    1. That is exactly what I was hoping my readers to get from this list, and it perfectly describes how I am now feeling in my life. It’s wonderful to be able to find happiness in the simplest of things once again. I’m so happy that you’re experiencing the same feelings, my friend.

I appreciate your list of things you love as well. I have vivid images of each and every one of them. 🙂

      1. That is one essential oil I don’t have! Perhaps I’ll try it. What does it pair nicely with? I can’t imagine using it on its own!

  2. It took me a long time to understand the wisdom in “stop and smell the roses”: life’s “simple” pleasures, those small moments of delight that stay with you as warm balls of happiness are what make a wonderful life. There’s much to be said about da Vinci’s “simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.” Yes, I, too, love quotes and have an ever-growing collection of my favorites. I love gummys (🐛 , not 🐻…😁), long, hot baths, sleeping late in the mornings, and enlightening lists of more things to relish in life. Thank you for such a great post!

    1. Your emoji’s made me laugh.
Before this past December, when we stayed in a hotel with an enormous tub, I had never been a fan of taking baths. Now I get it.

Thank you, as always, for reading. I enjoy your comments. 🙂

      1. I once read a quote that went something like “true bliss is a soak in a tub that allows warm water to cover your feet, knees, and shoulders at the same time”… 😁 It takes a good tub to understand that, no? 🛀 (I enjoy a good emoji, too…)

  3. I enjoy a lot of things on your list including the sound of wind chimes in my back yard, and reading on Sunday afternoons. I learning to embrace letting go of my perfectionism and accepting myself.

    1. That waterfall was at a forest preserve in the Chicago suburbs that has been on my bucket list for the past two years, and I was thrilled to finally see it. We went yesterday and had a wonderful time.

I’ve appreciated your nature photographs over the course of the years that I’ve been following your blog. You’ve given me the motivation to get outside more and admire the waterfalls and trees.:)

  4. Oh this is so lovely! Piles of library books and plants that come back from the dead would be on my list too! I also love tulips and hot sauce and big thick raindrops on windows.

  5. Oh my, I love this so much. I feel like we would be such great friends if we lived closer! I mean, we can be far-away friends, of course, but you know what I mean. Well, a girl can dream! So much of this list resonated so strongly with me – I love the variety of all the things that you love.

  6. I can’t love this list anymore. Beautiful. Especially about loving YOURSELF; what a gift that is.
We enjoy a lot of the same things, but you knew that.

I’ve finally been able to update some of my gardens; it was all on hold until we had gutters installed and had the roof cleaned. Now, it’s ME time out there and I’m loving seeing all my fresh new plants and adding in mulch; it’s much (mulch) to admire.

Kind of off-topic, but are you watching RHW Miami? I can’t get over Larsa’s butt and the fact that she looks like a Kardashian. I mean REALLY!

    1. It is SUCH a gift. I probably should’ve have put that at the top of the list.

Garden time is a type of meditation. I’m so glad you have that time every day. I can’t wait to go back into the garden again.

I haven’t watched it yet, BUT (pun intended) Larsa is one of Kim Kardashian’s closest friends, so it makes sense. 😉

  7. Oh, I love this list! There are many things on here that are favorites of mine, too. You have inspired me to write a 100 list of my own. 🙂

How did I not know of singer Valerie June? I am listening to her now and saving the songs on my Spotify playlist. What a beautiful voice!

PS – where can I privately message you…what is best for you? Text? Messenger? IG? Email?

    1. Yay! I’m looking forward to reading the lists that will be published in the future!

Following the completion of the menopause book, I set out to create a “hormonal” playlist and came upon Valerie June last year. She is magic.

Text is preferable. I believe you already have my phone number, but in case you don’t, I will send you an Instagram message. 🙂

  8. Great list! Just found you via Girl in a Boys House’s blog comments. I saw Artist’s Way in one of you photos. Have you read It’s Never Too Late to Begin Again by Julia Cameron? I think you would love it.

    1. Aww yay! Welcome! I’ve read it! I loved that book a lot. I’m working on rewriting my journaling notes for my daughters, and that book gave me so many excellent prompts. Thank you for thinking of me! ❤️
