  1. The Trouble with Angels! I haven’t thought of that movie in years and yet I immediately remembered it. I saw it when I was about the age of the angels in question. Emmett Otter’s Jug Band is, unquestionably, a classic. I like feeling understood, too. It’s encouraging to know that someone gets you. We were just talking about homemade strawberry shortcake less than hour ago. Now I feel like I need to make it happen.

  2. I thought you’d lost me right off the bat (I can’t STAND watermelon!), but I quickly found redemption in brinner, manifestation, the trees after a snowfall, fireplace lobbies, and pink evening skies.

I don’t mind a good boulevard, but I’m more partial to an avenue.

Tara loves Emmet Otter’s Jug Band Christmas, ha. I’ve never actually seen it, but I guess I might have to check it out come December.

      1. Tara suggested sprinkling salt on watermelon. It still didn’t help, but you know what? I try a bite every year, hoping that one day my taste buds will change.

My taste buds have yet to change.

Ironically, my last two houses have been on Drives, not Avenues.

      2. I appreciate that you try it every year. Maybe one day your taste buds will change.

Ours is on a lane, which, according to the article I shared, is inaccurate. I should write to the village in protest.

  3. You have so many wonderful things in your list! I’m a big fan of brinner too! I think I could eat breakfast food all day long. I love it all – eggs, bacon, sausages, potatoes, all the breads, pastries, biscuits, and muffins, and even cereal.
I think Honeycrisp apples are the best kind of apples.
A really good, fresh watermelon with salt is wonderful. But I can’t stand mediocre watermelon. So, I’m always wary when it comes to watermelon.
Well, I seem to be having a food obsession here! 😂

    Your selfie is awesome!

    1. I could eat breakfast foods all day, too! I am in the oatmeal phase of my life. And muesli. I ate muesli for dinner last week. It was wonderful.

Honeycrisp apples are the best. (Do not tell the other apples.)

I can’t stand mediocre watermelon (or canteloupe) either! But a really good watermelon? MMMM

I also have a food obsession. You are among friends. 🤣❤️

      Aww, thank you!

  4. “anthropologie juice glasses” — Meeeeeeee too!

Kari, I don’t know if you knew this but Anthropologie originated in Wayne, Pennsylvania, and their flagship store is in Center City, Philadelphia (about 6 blocks from where I live). If you ever come to visit, I will take you there. The store is absolutely GORGEOUS because it’s a converted (3 large floors) mansion that was owned by a family. Wait until you see it! I took my friend there when she came to visit and she instantly became an Anthropology fan!

LOVE Joan Cusack!!!! She was the best character in the movie, “In & Out”!

“fuck it” – favorite word EVER!

I first saw “The Trouble With Angels” when I was in Catholic grammar school. I own it on DVD! The exteriors were filmed in Ambler, PA.

FUN post, my friend! Love that picture of your dad! X

    1. I did not know this!!! OMG. I’m so glad you’re taking me there. In your last post, I almost mentioned visiting you and having you take me somewhere, but I didn’t want to seem pushy. Now I am definitely going to visit. HA! Our basic Anthropologie stores are stunning; I can only imagine how beautiful that place is!

Yes, she is! I love her so much. Her brother is also amazing. Good humans.

      It is a good word!

When I was a kid, my mom got me hooked on that movie. I’ve loved it ever since.

Thank you, friend! I love that picture too. He loves his Dolly dog. ❤️

  9. We have been watching The Bear too; the writing is incredible, as is the acting. HOWEVER. We watched the Fishes episode last night and I had nightmares all night! Eeeee what an intense episode.

Something I love is that we are in the midst of garden planning. Yay! Veggie beds and flowers and ground cover and ooooh it is so exciting!

  10. You are so good about coming up with new items for your 100 Things I Love lists! I started a second list months ago and maybe got 10 more things written down. Some of your things have spurred me on! I need to find the journal where I was writing these things down.

Somebody Somewhere was absolutely one of the best series I’ve ever watched. I can’t wait for Season 3. Loved The Bear, too. But where have I been…I’ve never heard of Emmett Otter’s Jugband Christmas!

Honeycrisp apples are literally the only kind I’ll eat.

Going to check out the journals from Picadilly. Or, at least get some ideas of more lists to make from the titles. ;-)

Early morning peacefulness…oh, yes. That’s the best! I never was a morning person, but there’s something about waking the house up (as someone else mentioned), feeding the cat, making my coffee (or sometimes, tea) and then getting back in bed for about 1/2 hour with my pillows fluffed behind me, Clementine now in my lap, scanning my email then playing Wordle, while sipping my hot beverage. I realize I am very lucky that I don’t have to set an alarm and then rush to get ready for work anymore. I count my blessings every day on that one.

    1. You’re so kind! I keep the list in my phone and add to it periodically, but it took me over six months to publish it! 🤣

It was an excellent show. Maybe I’ll watch it again. I’m in need of some wholesome television. Emmett Otter is a very obscure Jim Henson production from the mid-’80s. Honestly, I think you would love it.

A lot of those journals are available in the Target notebook section!

YES TO YOUR MORNING ROUTINE. I feel exactly the same way, friend. I have to get up early because of Ella’s school schedule and now Dad’s cancer appointments (which I am happy to do), but I am always grateful that I no longer have to go to work. That I don’t have a grind. And I’m so grateful for the mornings when we can sleep in and take it slow. This makes me appreciate them even more.💕

  11. Never heard of brinner or watermelon with salt… I will probably try the latter, but will have to investigate the former.

Things I’m currently loving are my grandson pretending to be cross (and not being able to carry it off for long), and my granddaughter’s dancing (that girl can really move), oh and spring flowers :)

  12. Growing up, we always had watermelon with salt. Also, cantaloupe. Pepperjack string cheese??? I have never seen that, but I’d be all over it. Milanos remind me of my kids. I’d buy a pack and then carefully dole them out, since there weren’t many. I got so excited when they came out with new flavors, but mint was always my fave. Graeters!!!!! In 2015, we did a Cincy family trip and went to one that was a large ice cream parlor. My fave will always be their coconut chocolate chunk. It’s the best ice cream ever!

Enough about food. Ok, wait . . . I am obsessed with the smell of coffee shops. I understand why it makes you think of vacation. It just gives me the feels.

I’ve loved marching bands ever since my son played trumpet in his HS marching band. There were 300 kids in it! I chaperoned their trip to Disney World his freshman year. They played in an evening Magic Kingdom parade and hearing the crowd around us being impressed with such a large marching band was really cool.

I loved Somebody Somewhere. I’m glad it’s renewed for a third season. I also loved HBO’s The Other Two. It’s a comedy and I thought it was really funny.

Aren’t whales so fun to watch? We went on a Humpback Whale boat tour in Maui and I can’t tell you how amazing it was. Epic bucket list moment.

I hope your Dad is doing well and I’m wishing you a week full of LOVE! XO

    1. I also salt my apples. I’ll try salt on cantaloupe. I’ve only seen pepperjack string cheese at Walmart (their brand). I love Milano’s mint flavor. There is never enough in the package. This is probably a good thing. Graeters is the next level of ice cream. In my double chocolate chunk ice cream, the chocolate chunks are generously distributed. I will look for coconut chocolate chunks the next time I visit their store. There is one near Anna’s house, so we try to stop there whenever we visit.

THE SMELL OF A COFFEE SHOP. YES. Going on my next list.

300 kids! That’s huge! My high school marching band had about 80 members!

I just looked up The Other Two, and it looks awesome! I’ll have to check it out. I’m so glad Somebody Somewhere was renewed. I’m also glad Season 3 of The Bear begins in June.

OMG I bet that was the coolest thing ever! I’d love to see this someday. Epic, for sure!

Thank you, friend. This week has been going well for him. Chemo side effects are very difficult for him, so we have been making frequent trips to the cancer center and he has been receiving blood transfusions at the hospital. But he is doing much better today. ❤️

  13. I’m late to this party because I spent most of Monday and Tuesday in airports. So, today I am loving being home. I love that home is a refuge. For many years it was not. I feel so fortunate in this.

I also love your list, and its reminder that it is the small things in our lives that bring such comfort: simple foods, a TV show, beautiful things to see outside our windows, people (and other beings) that we love.

    1. I understand how you feel about your home as a refuge. I always look forward to traveling until I get to my destination. Then I can’t wait to return home. 🤣
My home was not a refuge for many years, Rita, but it is now. I, too, feel fortunate. I’m so glad you feel the same way.

I am a big believer in the little things. These things are driving us forward right now. ❤️

  14. Emmett Otter! Dogs doing yoga with you! Finding a good book recommendation in a book you’re reading! All sooooo good.

Today I love watching my calendar fill up with appointments at work – I’d rather a busy day than a non-busy day!!

  15. This is once again a great list. I, too, love Honeycrisp apples and I scoff at my former self for ever eating Golden Delicious. So silly.

I love a good night sleep (tonight is not one of them) or even the feeling after a 20 minute afternoon nap

I love a clean house – I’m somewhat familiar with what this is like ;)

I love a pretty sunset too – I’ve been noticing them quite a bit lately. Sort of unexpected, because I’m not on the beach or anything

    I love summer.

I’ve never heard of that movie. I just heard about that show about the singing lady. WGN showed a clip of it the other morning. I am upset that I can never remember or find the shows I want to watch. Too many streaming options, in my opinion. I wonder though, if I can rent some of those at the library.

    1. I just had an apple a few minutes ago! So good!

Yes, to a good night’s sleep! I haven’t been getting them as much lately because of everything going on, PLUS I think menopause has returned in full force for some reason. It’s quite annoying.

I love having a clean house too. I try to do it on Sundays now as a reset for the coming week.

I see 80s movies I want to watch and am frustrated that I can’t find them. OR, they are available on Amazon for $14.99. No, thanks.

  16. So many good things to love, my friend!

Someplace, Somewhere was such a great show. I hope there are going to be more seasons, as I’ve watched all of them. It made me laugh. It made me cry.

Honey crisp apples are the bomb.

Is that a new tattoo? Pretty!

I have many things that I love, but is it weird that my biscuit is laying next to me, while chewing on a toy, she let out the cutest fart without missing a beat to her chewing, made me smile? Dog farts. So stinking cute.

  17. PBS on your list! Yes! Love!  I feel like PBS streaming for a $5 monthly donation is a steal too.

Other things I love? Right now I’d say Random Song Gifts from Mah Brain.

Lately my brain has been gifting me with the music I need. The other day a song I’ve not heard in sooo long popped into my head.

    Hamza El Din’s Greetings.

And then I found myself remembering the whole album. Songs like that that bring a rush of happy memories – places, people, a time in my life.

    Excellent work Brain 😉

    1. Sesame Street, Mr. Rogers Neighborhood, and Julia Child are three shows that we can thank PBS for. PBS is an incredible gift to all of us. I’m grateful for everything I’ve learned through that channel over the years. And my kids loved the shows they watched on that channel as well.

Random Song Gifts! YES. I love this.

I’m listening to Hamza El Din right now. LOVE.

Maddie, I truly love your musical taste. Please share more with me.

      EXCELLENT WORK, INDEED. ❤️
