Thank the universe for bloggers and blogging. I’d gotten a scary test result the day I discovered this entertaining blog post. I told myself there was nothing to be worried about until there was something to be worried about. It turns out there was nothing to be worried about.
But I came across Ally’s blog post, which felt like a gift from the universe in the form of a distraction.
Thank the universe for bloggers and blogging.

If I were a poem I’d be “You do not have to be good. You do not have to walk on your knees for a hundred miles through the desert, repenting. You only have to let the soft animal of your body love what it loves.” – Mary Oliver
I hope this can be a distraction for any of you who are going through a difficult time.
What would your responses be?

I want to know more! Why a chickadee? Why Chicago? I’m just over here filling in the blanks and feeling like I don’t know all the asnwers!

I LIKE YOU.
I chose chickadees since they are the birds that live in my yard all year. They’ve essentially become my outside pets. That kind of devotion speaks to me.
I chose Chicago because it is a beautiful city with a terrible reputation among those who have never visited. On many levels, I can relate to that.
Thank you for asking for the backstory. ❤️

What a fun series of prompts! I don’t think I have come across these before… some I’d really have to think about but if I were a drink I’d be iced tea, if I were shoes I’d be flip flops, if I were a color I’d be blue.

Isn’t this fun? Ally always has a lot of fun prompts to share. I love your answers. ❤️

Ugh on the test results. I’ve lost more sleep over false positives and random blood work showing borderline health problems from routine testing. I’m glad you are A-OK!
I’m a Friday in May, looking forward to the hope of Summer. I’m an acoustic guitar, too! Can I be a purple pansy, despite the negative connotation to that word? They have such cheerful faces.

It occurred over the course of several months, so it was stressful. But I’m relieved that everything worked out. 💕

That would be hard to have it continue for so long.

I’m getting too hung up on whether I’m supposed to choose things that represent qualities I have (so, metaphors) or the kinds of things I’d like to be. So, if I were a city I’d LIKE to be a small, coastal town full of artists, but what I probably AM is a mid-sized town that houses a small, not very prestigious liberal arts college.
(Yes, I was that kid in class, I’m sure.)
I am glad that you are OK, sorry you had to endure such worry, and grateful that blogging gave you a healthy coping strategy. xoxox

I first felt the same way and was confused as to how I was meant to approach these questions. So I followed my intuition and used the first thing that came to me. I’m not sure whether that was the intention, but that’s how I did it. 😂
Ooh, that’s exactly what I’m looking for, with a dash of Stars Hollow tossed in for good measure.
I am truly grateful for blogging and this community. 💕

Of course it would be Stars Hollowish 🙂 It’s full of artists! And other weirdos. (Maybe I am more like that town than I thought.)

I’m sorry you had a scary test result but happy to hear it was nothing to worry about. I’ve had that twice with mammograms…which reminds me, I’m overdue.
Element of weather…thunder snow…I love that.

As much as I appreciate the fact that test results are now available online, I think it is preferable not to know. I enjoy being in the dark, as I was in the old days. 🤣

Distractions from our worries are a comfort. I’m glad you found this and I’m very glad that your results helped you put your worries aside.
When I saw the title, I started humming IF I WERE A RICH MAN, DA TA DA TA DAH TO DAH.
I chuckled at ‘feeling: misunderstood.’ Right?
I enjoyed Rita’s comment. Well said, Rita, well said.
I’ve been decoupaging for a few hours over here, so I’m not sure what my response would be – oh, I guess if I was going to be a place I’d be a house on a lake not in the midwest, so warm all year please.
If’ I were a fruit, I’d be pinapple. I love pineapple. Tank calls it spicy and I don’t think pineapple is spicy, but I can be spicy – so it fits.

Now I’m humming if I were a rich man….
I was also unsure how I was supposed to approach these questions, so I went with my gut instinct and chose the first answer that came to mind. Nothing more to it than that. 😂
A fun fact about pineapple: many people are allergic to it. That is something I learned from a bartender.

I am SO glad there is nothing to worry about. I try to do that too, not to worry until there is something to worry about – but I am not always successful.
This was very fun to read! I think I’d be an apple too, but very specifically a Macintosh apple. I think perhaps I’d be a Gerber daisy.

Me too! I am also often unsuccessful.
I am a Gala apple. I used to be Honeycrisp, but as I become older, I discover I’m not as sweet as I once thought. See octopus video. 😂

Omg I am total crap at answering these types of questions bc I can never choose just one answer 😅
Like – if I were a flower? Oh my dear Aunt Sally! Could we do it by subcategories? Like If I were an Herbaceous Perennial… errr wait no… I still couldn’t choose just one. What about sub sub sub categories… like If I were an Herbaceous Perennial Tolerant of Heavy Soils, Attracting Hummingbirds & with a Long Flowering Period? Might be able to name *one* (Salvia guaranitica)…
In short (long?)
If I were an answer:
I’d exceed the space provided 😊

Me too!
I’m a sucker for subcategories, especially when it comes to flowers. I could hear you having this discussion despite having never heard your voice. ❤️
THIS IS AMAZING. Always exceed the space provided. That sounds like solid life advice to me.

LOVE this. Octopus! Thundersnow! Porch swing! Cardinal’s song! I was surprised by many of these, and by how evocative of person/personality they turned out to be. And your “If I were a poem” answer is just perfection.

I understand entirely the octopuses need to punch.
I’m so glad that whatever scared you was nothing to worry about. I had this happen a few months ago and whew…it can take some years off your life. XO

I love that you and I would have similar responses!
I also understand their desire to punch.
I hate the fact that it is taking years off our lives WHEN THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT WE ARE TRYING TO AVOID. 😂

I’m glad you did this. It’s fun to see how people answer the same questions. I love that you’d be a woodsy scent. I want to change my answer now. I also like the idea of being a porch swing. Thanks for the shoutout, too. Carry on, Kari
