  1. I swear, just reading this list lowered my blood pressure! There are so many things on it that I love, too. It really is the small things that can make all the difference in a day, isn’t it? I am now kicking myself for not realizing before today that I could put dark chocolate chips in my yogurt/granola/fruit. I mean, I put them in my breakfast cookies! Thank you. And I think I will need to rewatch Return to Me. I really miss 2000’s rom-coms. I feel so nostalgic about them now. Hope you have a day full of things you love. I am right now sitting in my snug (we’re not British, but we have one) that gets the morning sun, and it is my favorite place to start the day. It would be even better if I had a dog snuggling me. Love that photo of yours on the quilt. Love that you are making that space into one for you.

  2. Aren’t all dogs therapy dogs though?
I love this list – so many things to talk about. Where to start? Child’s pose is fantastic, lilacs are a gift to this world, I love the smell of Hawaiian Tropic sunscreen and also gel manicures. That quilt is gorgeous! These things make me happy and I’m glad they do for you as well.

    1. Oh for sure, but I was thinking about Ella’s school’s therapy dog and how much comfort she provides her and the students. But YES. 🤣❤️

I am so glad we share so many happy things.

  3. I love these lists so much. I started one after I read your first or second list, and haven’t gotten through it yet. Whoops.

The sound of a train in the distance! Yes! So lonely, so hopeful.

I also love old people holding hands. I aspire to that (unbeknownst to my husband).

    Lilacs!!!!! Best scent ever.

Crispy tacos!!!! Desert island food for sure.

What a treasure is your grandmother’s quilt.

Those cream cheese blondies sound delicious.

Thank you for sharing these posts! I love them so much!

    1. I love how you started a list after reading!

Suzanne, I aspire to the same thing.

I wish lilacs lasted longer. That scent…

My grandmother’s quilt had been in our basement for years until I moved it into Anna’s room a few months ago. I love having it with me every day. It’s as if she’s in here with me every day.

I love that you enjoy these posts! 😘❤️

  4. Just pools in general make me smile! I find that water of nearly any kind makes me happy– pools, lakes, streams, waterfalls, the ocean/beach, a pretty fountain, etc.

  5. Peeping Toms in the spring? Kinky, but who am I to judge.

Two standouts on your list: fancy frozen pizza and songs from the ’70s. That’s a big YES to both!

And I’m a big fan of Rice Krispies, banana, and milk.

      1. I was going to see X but already got a ticket for AU Pink Floyd that night.

I may be done with concerts due to my knees. But I’ve seen most everyone I want (over 100 bands… most of them 80s) so it’s okay.

  6. Kari, I also love the scent of patchouli! In fact, the fragrances that I wear all have a note of patchouli. And is there anything more heavenly than the smell of a new book? I used to go into Barnes and Noble and just SNIFF the books. LOL!

I’m a vegetarian , so that veggie tray looks deeeeelicious. I love to dip my veggies in either hummus, Trader Joe’s Caesar salad dressing, or pesto.

Me too…chilly mornings! But then again, I like chilly mornings, afternoons, and nights. For me, chilly is my comfort zone.

That’s one of my favorite movies as well. I adore Minnie Driver.

One of my simple pleasures is train travel. The second I get on a train and it starts to move, I feel so relaxed and peaceful. I love the movement of a train. If I could travel around the world in only a train, I would!

Fun post, my friend! Have a spectacular week! X

    1. I go into bookstores just to smell the books!

I use the tray on a weekly basis to force myself to eat my veggies.

Chilly is also my comfort zone!

I love riding trains as well. ❤️

Have a fantastic week as well, my friend! 😘

  7. What a great list! I LOVED the website link, and it made me howl with laughter, so thank you for that. The quirky bookmarks are awesome, too, as well as the smell and feel of old books. Reading your list made me feel calm and happy. ❤️

  8. You like 500 things now? Lord love a duck you’re the loviest blogger I know. My simple pleasures? Hot tea after lunch, ink pens in many colors, and finding where I ditched my phone inside the house without swearing profusely.

    1. Lord love a duck…I am gonna use that. I’m wondering if I’ve named some of the same things. I haven’t gone through the other lists, and I do have menopause brain, so maybe there’s some overlap? Lord love a duck…🤣

Ink pens in many colors. Yes. That’s something I love too.

  9. Great list. I agree, I think my blood pressure was lowered here too. I’ve had a day – full of phone calls and insurance issues that are never ending and refuse to be sorted out.

I also love funny bumper stickers. And laying by the pool with a good book. I prefer a pool with water that isn’t icy, for goodness sake – let’s not go from one extreme to another.

    1. Aww, I am glad I could provide a break from the stress. 😘

Funny bumper stickers! I love those too. Our pool has been a nice place for all of us so far. AND it is finally warming up.

  10. Banning books is redunkerous!!
I love how my Peanut loves to curl aside my body, too; except in the middle of the night when that makes me hot. 😜
Your pool is in! YAY, that will make your summer even better. I agree with you that Chicago summers are lovely.

    1. Redunkerous is my new favorite word. I might add it to the next list.
I hate that too! It makes me feel claustrophobic. 🤣
The Chicago summers make the Chicago winters worthwhile.

  11. This is so good – read your list twice! I am working on my second 100 Things I Love List. My brain doesn’t work as fast as yours. ;-)

That website with the quirky bookmarks (which I also love – gotta put that on my list if I haven’t done so already) is great – they also have cool cards and notepads, ooh.

If you know of any particular cool etsy shops with stickers, please pass them along to me. I need a new laptop just to put my collection of stickers on it, ha ha. (Really, I do need a new laptop.)

How wonderful that Anna’s room has become a little haven just for you. That’s how Phil’s room is for me. I’m in here on my laptop at the desk right now. Did yoga in here earlier and will curl up with my book in here later tonight.

Funny you should mention vodka, water, lemon and lime…I never used to be a vodka person. And I didn’t like flavored sparkling water. But in this hot weather, in the evening on the patio, I’ve found there’s nothing more refreshing that a glass of flavored sparkling water with vodka and lots of ice. You know how Trader Joe’s sells the individual cans of beers, sparkling waters, etc? I bought one of the waters, put it over ice and thought, “Bet vodka would be good in this.” And the rest is history.

    xoxo

    1. So many of these entries were inspired by you. ❤️

Isn’t that a fun website? I found it via SwissMiss. And I found SwissMiss via YOU!

I follow a lot of cool sticker shops. I may have to write a post about it, but in the meantime, here is my Etsy profile so you can see my favorites:

I really love what you did with Phil’s room. I feel the same way about Anna’s room. It’s become a special place for me to go when I need some alone time.

Oooh, I’m going to Trader Joe’s tonight! I’ll look into it! Thank you for the suggestion!

      Xoxo

  12. Can reading your blog be my simple pleasure??

Doesn’t child’s pose feel so good on your lower back? I need to do it more often.

I did know about the Cure and Duran Duran’s tours. The Cure is not playing anywhere near me, but Duran Duran is coming to Blossom. However, I have no one to go with. But we do have 3 upcoming concerts, so I really can’t complain. And ticket prices are obscene.

Thank you for introducing me to Daniel Popper. Next time we go to Vegas, I will look for his work. And front doors . . . I love colorful ones. Ours is teal. There was a lilac one in our neighborhood on a grey house that I loved. I was pissed when they repainted it black. WHY? Ron has done some posts in the past with colorful doors.

I love a pie restaurant, but they are few and far between. Our family ate at one near Bryce Canyon in Utah. Look up the menu of Bryce Canyon Pines. It was the one and only time I had Boysenberry pie (or boysenberry anything!) I’m tickled that they are still in business.

    1. I love that reading my blog is one of your favorites. Reading yours is one of mine too.

I recently developed lower back pain, and child’s pose has helped me.

I wish we could go to the Duran Duran concert together! I hope you’ll write about the three concerts you’re going to! I haven’t been to a concert in a long time. The last one I went to was Tears for Fears/Hall and Oates.

You’re very welcome! He is a treasure. I discovered him on TikTok and was fortunate to see his work in person at the Morton Arboretum in Lisle, Illinois

Ours front door is a bright green. When I see colorful doors, I always smile. I like the idea of a purple front door, so it would bother me if they painted it black.

I went to the restaurant’s website and noticed that they have a small menu. That’s one of my favorite things. When a restaurant has a small menu, the food is usually fantastic.

      Now I want pie.

  13. One of mine is meeting bloggers I follow in person! We’ve “talked” about doing that so I’m wondering if you have plans for July 4th that I might join i.e. in a group. I’m also pretty available in July for a short road trip from Kalamazoo to wherever else you might want to meet up.
