Yesterday, I recorded a podcast. I know, I’m shocked as well.

Some of you may not even be aware that I have a podcast.

I have a podcast.

For those who do not enjoy listening to podcasts, here is a summary:

-For Christmas, I received a bird feeder camera. Prepare for a lot of bird footage in 2023. Just when you thought things couldn’t get any duller around here, BAM!

-I started receiving Botox injections in October since I am a Real Housewife of Chicago. I’m kidding. It’s used to treat migraines. I only started getting them now because insurance only pays for them after you’ve failed every other migraine preventative. Go Me! Side note-I very rarely get migraines now.

-Are you going to a New Year’s Eve party? Personally, I like to stay at home. I mentioned that New Year’s Eve 2020 spoiled me a little. It was so nice lounging around reading and watching movies with my family. I never wanted to spend New Year’s Eve any other way. Does anyone else feel this way, or do you like to ring in the new year with a bang?

I mentioned New Year’s resolutions/goals briefly. I did make a list in my phone of things I want to do more of (or less of) in 2023. Here it is:

Travel locally (and afar)

Spend more alone time with my husband

Be less critical of myself

Use Amazon less frequently

-My dad and I are contemplating collaborating on a music podcast together. My mom thought it would be a fun project for us to work on because we both enjoy music. Hold us to it…

What are your NYE plans?

Do you have any resolutions or goals for the new year?

  1. I want one of those bird cameras, I saw them on Amazon, they look amazing. I look forward to your “dull” pictures! I did not know you produced a podcast? I’ll be skipping over there to listen! Bravo. Larry and I slipped up to the lake for New Years, our kids decided to follow, and a few friends are joining us for a New Years Dinner! My resolutions have to do with letting go of the things that are a waste of time, doing more of what I love (reading, writing, gathering with friends, traveling, new experiences with the hubby), and less of what I dread (cleaning toilets, marketing my work, worrying about what others might think). Happy New Year, hugs, C

    1. I have no idea how to share my videos on my blog, so that will be something else I have to learn in 2023! Look at how I’m challenging myself…😂

LA and Matt were the ones who motivated me to start a podcast, but they no longer record a podcast! It’s actually a lot of fun. I simply fell out of the habit of doing it.

Your New Year’s Eve plans sound amazing! Enjoy!

Your resolutions sound reasonable to me. Do more of what I love and less of what I don’t. That’s a valuable life lesson. ❤️

Happy New Year to you as well!

  2. I think I hosted a NYE party one year in college.. and that’s the closest we’ve ever come to doing “anything” on NYE! We have always been content to stay home. I’ve been debating about trying to do away with Amazon entirely… but realized that is probably not something I could keep up but using it LESS sure is. That’s a great goal… Oh and I’ve been eyeing a few new bird feeders with the build in cameras. I honestly can’t wait to see how your photos turn out.

    1. When I was in my twenties, I used to throw parties that were always a lot of fun. I just really enjoy being at home now!

I considered getting rid of Amazon completely in 2023, but it isn’t a realistic option. However, cutting back is.

I will keep you posted. I think you should get one simply because of where you live. You’d get amazing footage.

  3. I’ve wanted to do a podcast for a long time. I had a great idea for a Team MarTar one, but sadly, my wife is NOT game. Team Mar is an oxymoron and not nearly as interesting. Oh to the well.

We’re going to do some barhopping around town on NYE, but earlier in the day. We’ll be home well before midnight in order to avoid most of the craziness!

    1. I’d love to listen to a podcast you and Tara create. Even though I said on the podcast that I do not listen to podcasts, if one of my fellow bloggers created one, I would listen.

Have a wonderful New Year’s Eve! I’m hoping to read a follow-up post and see some pictures.❤️

  4. Did you get the Bird Buddy I have? I absolutely love it. I gave one to my 90-year-old dad and he said it’s the most exciting gift he’s ever gotten. Bird Buddy was a project my son worked on to raise money to bring it to market. Now there are other brands out there too. Happy New YEAR!

  5. I am here for the bird content!

New Year’s will be quiet for me as well. Just dinner and home and some wine. I’m glad the Botox is working for you – I had a friend who got it for her TMJ and it helped immensely.

Your list of goals is a very good one! I don’t have any specifically new goals, all of mine are pretty much evergreen. Oh, except I think I might try to quit a book before I end up hating everything and wanting to burn it. It’s okay to DNF! We shall see how I do on that.

  6. That’s awesome about Botox for migraines because I know it works. I used to work (as a front desk concierge) at a medi spa here in Philadelphia, so I’ve seen a lot of various proceedures done, using various injectables.

No, I don’t do New Year’s Eve parties. I used to (when I was a party animal). But over the years I’ve mellowed and prefer to spend the eve with either a few close friends, or alone. I live in a city, so New Year’s Eve can get insane on the streets. However, the worst is New Year’s Day because we have a parade that goes on for hours and hours, so the streets are packed with drunk people who end up passing out on the streets. Philly is a HUGE party/drinking/sports town.

I don’t do New Year’s resolutions/goals. But what I do do is stay open to change in the upcoming year and allow my life to continue to unfold.

I will definitely listen to your podcast tomorrow. Can’t wait!

Wishing you a relaxing and enjoyable New Year’s Eve! Soooooooo glad to have met you this year. I look forward to blogging with you in 2023.

    Cheers and X!

    1. I am very grateful for Botox. It has significantly improved my quality of life.

I can only image how chaotic it must be in a city! I also appreciate the thought of spending the evening with a small group of close friends.

I love the concept of being open to change!

Ron, I wish you a wonderful New Year’s Eve with your friends! I am also SO happy to have met you this year! Here’s to the year 2023!😘

  7. You got a bird camera!?
One of my girls said to me the other day that they should have gotten one for me and I was all HELL YES YOU SHOULD! I’m here for it.

We don’t usually do anything on NYE, and I’ve never made a resolution, but maybe this year I’ll start a revolution. 😳

  8. The snow and ice were melting yesterday, so I ventured out for a walk and listened to podcasts, one being yours. I’m curious about what music your Dad likes. My parents were very old school and didn’t listen to any popular music or rock and roll. Neither did my in-laws, which my husband and I have talked about . . . They were only in their 30’s in the early/mid 1970’s. We’ve always found it odd.

We love birds, so bring on the bird cam. Our faves here is our creeper barred owl (he hangs out by the master bath window) and the pileated woodpecker.

Normally, we do crab legs and champagne at home for NYE. This year, my son and DIL are spending the night and watching the Sugar Bowl with us. We are doing a Mexican fiesta for food. I don’t do resolutions; I’m not that introspective;)

    1. I love that you brought me for a walk! ( I needed it) 😂

My dad enjoys a wide range of music. So my Dad graduated in 1964, so he liked the music that was popular at the time and actually wanted to be a deejay, which gives you a sense of his love of popular music. He then enjoyed each decade’s popular music. Throughout the 1980s, he listened to just about everything. He doesn’t really listen to today’s popular music, but I think he’d be up for it if we had some fun with it on the podcast. 🙂

It’s funny that you mentioned woodpeckers. We usually only get chickadees throughout the winter. But the day after Christmas, I saw a woodpecker and four blue jays in our yard! I was feeling like Snow White! So I’m excited to see what the camera captures while we’re not looking.

I love your New Year’s Eve food ideas! Have fun! 💕

      1. That makes sense. My Dad graduated in ‘52 and my Mom in ‘57, so a good bit older than yours. Still weird that my parents didn’t even like the Beatles, but that’s the way they rolled (NOT rocked, apparently). Woodpeckers are the king of birds. Very fun to watch. Happy New Year!

      2. What kind of music did your parents like?

They’re incredible, aren’t they? We installed the feeder yesterday and have already had visitors. It’s the same breed of bird, but I’m not sure which breed. We have the option to upgrade and find out which breeds are visiting. Because my nerdiness and curiosity will get the best of me, I may have to break down and upgrade. Capitalism prevails once more! Grr..

  9. Ooh, a bird feeder camera? That sounds so cool! (I’m old. And nerdy.)

SO happy for you that the Botox injections are working for your migraines. Yay you, indeed!

NY Eve party? Ha! Haven’t been to one in easily 15 years, maybe more. I get more introverted and more of a homebody as the years go on. I’m looking forward to a quiet night…getting Thai food and hanging around in my sweat pants, reading and/or watching a movie with Brian. In bed before midnight.

I don’t make any NY’s resolutions but traveling is something we want to do next year, as well. As you know, it all depends on when Clementine crosses the Rainbow Bridge. We didn’t think she’d make it ’til the end of the year and yet, here she still is. I’m grateful for her presence and every day with her, of course.

You and your dad are thinking of doing a music podcast? That sounds like fun…and a great bonding experience.

Much love to you and your family for 2023. And I hope we can get together again soon! xoxo

    1. The feeder is being installed today! I hope to bring you lots of nerdy bird coverage!

That sounds like the perfect New Year’s Eve! Enjoy. ❤️

Oh, Clementine. You’ve given her a lovely haven. I don’t blame her for never wanting to leave.

But I understand your dilemma with Clementine. We never travel because of Buddy and Biscuits. We hate leaving them and don’t want to put them in a kennel, so we have to figure it out.

I just said the same thing to you on your blog! So we both manifested getting together more in 2023! YAY!

      1. I love seeing birds at the feeder…you are going to get some awesome photos!

I don’t blame you for not wanting to put your pups in a kennel. I don’t think I’d do that if I had a dog either. Pet sitters that can stay in your home are the only choice. My mom did that for us a few years ago when we had two cats (when Monkey was still alive). That was when we went to CA to see Tim. She didn’t have a dog at the time, so was able to stay here. Now she has a dog AND Clem is sick, so it is what it is for the time being.

A heartfelt YES to getting together more this year!
