Before I begin, there is something important that I neglected to mention in Tuesday’s tater tot post. If you’ve never watched Gilmore Girls before, don’t base your opinion on the first season. Give it two seasons before calling it quits.
These are the things that I kept on my phone throughout the month of August.
Ella pointed out that our tree is in the shape of a heart.
I feel so seen.
If you’re not sure what I’m talking about, check out this post. And this chapter of my book.
I’d like to elaborate on another thread that’s in here. Let’s say I chose to go with the “um excuse me” option. And I ask that version of me, “what would doing that do for you?” “It would make it fair. He cut me” “And what would fairness do for you?” “Then all would be right in the world” “And when all’s right in the world, then what? What does that feel like?” “Calm and joyful” Okay, so what you want is calm and joy. But, you’re using “um excuse me” energy (whatever that energy is, I don’t want it 😂) to access calm and joy. You’re seeing your access to calm and joy as conditional, something you can access later on when you perceive things as “fair” And in order for things you be fair you have to use um excuse me energy. It’s all conditioning. What if instead of all of that, you get clear on what you actually want (a certain feeling) and choose to have a direct experience of that feeling right here, right now? You’d be giving yourself the thing that part of you has been conditioned to believe it can only access when things are “fair” And when you give yourself whatever that thing is (whatever feeling you want) consistently, I think you’ll find that free coffees are coming left and right. But it’s not about the coffee, because you’ve already given yourself what you need. The coffee is the 3D symbol of an exchange of two people choosing to experience and amplify joy.
The moment you tell your son he’s going to a baseball game and you’re actually bringing him to see Lady Gaga sing his favorite song🥰He didn’t know, and he didn’t realize till this exact moment. 🥹 #ladygaga#yourbiggestfan#chromaticaball#foryou @ladygaga
From the book Healing the Shame that Binds You by John Bradshaw
“Will you love yourself for that?”
I’m trying, and I really hope you will as well. ❤️
I was going to leave you with that quote (which is a good one), but on August 31st, I encountered this on my TikTok feed. I’ve watched it at least 20 times. Maybe save it to your phone if you’re having a difficult day.
I recently discovered that Namaste means “to celebrate in you where we are both one.” I’m having a hard time comprehending oneness in all of us. It’s a lesson I’m working to master.
This TikTok was clearly placed in my path to help me with that.
This especially was a gut punch in the best way “ What if instead of all of that, you get clear on what you actually want (a certain feeling) and choose to have a direct experience of that feeling right here, right now?”
I have the same reaction to your Tuesday Things posts. These posts were inspired by you and other bloggers. I’m simply giving back. ❤️
I had to think about that quote for a while. It’s been a difficult few weeks, but I can’t always express myself here. These posts allow me to express myself without actually writing the words. Sitting in the here and now has saved my soul.
Full Moon and Capitalism. Zinnias. Heart Tree. I love it all.
I am also that Petty Bitch who will slow down when someone is on my tail. Especially if they are on my street and using it as a Cut Through. NOT TODAY, SIR; TODAY, YOU WILL DRIVE SLOWER.
Dying at Phone Call Justification.
That Alanis song is epic. I love, love, love Ray LaMontagne! I listen to his channel on Pandora.
Ella and Art ♥️❤️
Oh, wait. I meant to ask about the River Dance-comment. I remember you telling us how you danced to it daily, but I didn’t understand this little blip today.
There is so much here. You do stuff with your phone. I just text with it and check email. I’m so boring.
The directions for Harry and Sally – hilarious. Did I miss the point if I just want the guy that says it was a good day and then he sighs to tell us WHY it was a good day? The music guy with the goosebumps – did you even see his t-shirt? Do you own that? Written and directed by John Hughes. Love it. The bat video is priceless. The comments are so great. Clearly if I ever officially discover how to look at stuff on TikTok I will never get anything done. Ever. Best that I keep my distance and just watch the ones other people share. Oh, and I love Elyse Meyers. I’ve seen her interviewed on WGN news. A first date story that is so dang funny. Thanks for the laughs.
You’re not boring; you’re raising SIX HUMANS. That’s a lot, Ernie. Consider what I do here for you.
His heart says it was a good day, so his brain can relax. It was emojis, but I had to take a long look at it to comprehend it at first, so it’s easy to miss the message.
GOOD EYE! I never noticed his shirt! I’ve seen those, but his isn’t the best. There’s a shirt that looks like the credits from The Breakfast Club. It’s a font thing. 😉
Well, I just loved all of this! Thanks so much!
I feel much the same way as Eddie Vedder, which is a sentence I never thought I would utter in my life.
I love thinking about how we are all connected in this world, so I enjoyed that last bit.
Who knew you shared so much with…Eddie Vedder? This leads us back to Namaste. I never saw myself writing a sentence with Eddie Vedder and Namaste in it. What a turn of events in life. ❤️
Lots of goodness, as always! I would die if there was a bird in my house. My neighbor had a chipmunk enter through a not fully closed patio door and her description of her husband trying to get it to go back outside is hilarious.
Aren’t baby baggies so cute? I’m going to post a photo next with some of the ones in our garden.
My college boyfriend loved Kurt Vonnegut. That letter is a gift.
The title of that picture, Full Moon and Capitalism, is outstanding.
I love the baby vegetables! Mine are growing slowly, which makes me wonder if they won’t become much bigger. I’ll snap a picture of them so you can see. They seem to be growing very slowly.
I love that it’s a gift. 😘
I should have included “dirty windows” in that picture as well. 😂
Good grief on the autocorrect in my comment! Baby veggies! Glad you knew what I meant. I thought it was a bat at first, but then didn’t think it looked big enough. My son still talks about the time he was at marching band practice at night and a bat flew down and hit him in the head. I should have taken him to get a rabies shot, but those were my busy years🤣
I want those Birkenstocks, too. Very cool. I agree that it is difficult to abide by spirit daughter’s advice, yet worth it. Love, love the doggy photo. Talk about being comfortable in your surroundings. Happy Weekend, Kari
Maybe Harry had a police scanner, being that this was way before GPS, and heard there was a wreck on I-90 east, so he decided to detour down Lakeshore Dr. instead?
I always love a good collage, and this whole post seems to be a collage about creativity and creative work, and I love what it says: Expect to be misunderstood. Do it anyway. Do it just because of what it does for you. Do it for that one other person who needs it. Do it in spite of fear. Do it because we’re all connected and art helps us see that.
(Also: I think the first two seasons of Gilmore are my favorites. Not so much a fan of the college years.)
I like how you compared it to a collage. Each month, this is my collage/slam book/vision board. It grew from grief and has since been my favorite post to work on each month.
Season two is definitely my favorite. The college years are my least favorite.
Not a Logan fan, and I hate the season where she and Lorelei aren’t speaking. And Luke is so dumb about April. And Lorelei and Christopher? Ugh. Why do I even like that show? 🙂
Amy Sherman-Palladino, the writer/creator, was not part of the last season (contract disupte). According to an article I read, season 7 is “not considered canon” by fans. I think we’re supposed to dislike Logan–he makes Jess look better. 🙂
50/50. Some of it was good, but others were average. There were several parts that made no sense. I also don’t like the way she ended it. I need closure. 😂
Well, this post is just packed full of wisdom.
This especially was a gut punch in the best way “ What if instead of all of that, you get clear on what you actually want (a certain feeling) and choose to have a direct experience of that feeling right here, right now?”

Loved the caller ID one…that is so me. Better yet, they can text, not call. 😉
The boy in the Coldplay video…what a sweetheart. Loved seeing his reaction to the lights and then how he actually enjoyed the music.

I cut the comment without the TikTok, but I probably should’ve shared it. Duh. She shares her desire to become a member of Riverdance. I felt so SEEN.

I, TOO, AM A PETTY BITCH. Imagine us in a car together. We’d be unstoppable.
I had a Ray LaMontagne Pandora station as well! You and I have nearly same musical tastes.

That’s something I’d heard. I know the last show wasn’t supposed to be the last one, even if it looks to be. 😦

Did you like the revival in 2016? I remember reading that the end of that was how Sherman-Palladino wanted to end the series.
